RiskVue
In the world of managing acquisition and sustainment activities for complex military systems, program risks are everywhere. Schedule risks, cost risks, technical risks - unforeseen risks. the list goes on and on.
To address program risk management needs, TopVue took a step back to look not only at what is needed to manage the risks themselves, but how the results of risk analysis need to be utilized towards their mitigation. It's one thing to know that there's a schedule risk identified related towards a contractor data submittal, but it's another to understand the ripple effect of that risk on other program activities and schedules. This is the domain in which TopVue's RiskVue module resides.
RiskVue identifies risks by customizable attributes, including name, status, contractor, risk owner, IPT, and others. Once identified, you select risks that you want to appear on your Risk Watchlist - a quick snapshot of your most critical risks and their current details. Next, overall risk factors are calculated based on user-defined rules utilizing Probability and Severity parameters - and based on overall risk factor, emails are sent to the appropriate people, and review processes are automatically generated to route the risk for review and mitigation planning.
Mitigation planning takes place with an option to create multiple handling plans per risk - each handling plan identified by risk reduction attributes, such that preferred handling methodology can be selected based on overall risk reduction. Calculations and communication of results can be customized and automated via business rules - also notifying appropriate users via email and generating review processes automatically.
The true difference between RiskVue and conventional risk management applications lies in the power to include risk data as a component of an integrated business environment - where risks are an added component to the overall program data picture. Risks are associated to the specific contract milestones that they concern so that mitigation planning can evaluate the impact on milestone dates and completion. Related system components (configuration items, hardware, and software) are associated to the corresponding risks so that a complete understanding of baseline impact occurs during the risk planning process. These are just a few examples of what a truly integrated program data environment enables - specifically the solution that RiskVue provides.
