TopVue Releases CDRL Delivery PLM Interface for Supply Chain Support

Clearfield, UT – October 13, 2010 - TopVue Defense, Inc., a small business leading provider of program execution solutions announced today the release of a capability to interface technical data package (TDP) contractual requirements (CDRL) deliveries with external product lifecycle management (PLM) systems.

In working with the Army Cargo Helicopter Program Office (PMO), TopVue staff recognized the need for streamlining the processing (with off the shelf software) of TDP deliveries from contractors. Solving this challenge could result in enormous cost avoidance for Government programs dependent on TDP data.

Many Department of Defense (DoD) acquisition and sustainment contracts, which require a large amount of engineering data deliverables, typically have TDPs as CDRL requirements for contractors to deliver. The TDPs contain engineering related data required by the Government for their engineering, testing, fielding and sustainment missions. These TDP CDRL submissions are often difficult for the Government to manage for several reasons: (1) the diversity of data types (parts, bills of materials, drawing lists, and engineering change order lists) imposes a need for a robust configuration management repository often absent in program offices, (2) the inconsistency of data formats requires a lot of time to reformat to make useful to Government engineering functions, and (3) the TDP data often gets lost or remains on ‘network’ drives, which could render the data not useful. These issues increase the costs of data management and engineering analysis in Government program offices, and potentially increase risk of mission failure.

TopVue's market-leading CDRL management system, CDRLvue with CMvue, now has automation off the shelf for the Government to seamlessly receive, recognize and process TDP data upon a CDRL submission, and integrate downstream to external PLM systems, like the 1Teamcenter system by Siemens , as well as like the Government Joint Engineering Data Management Information and Control System (JEDMICS).

CDRLvue, a DOD 5010.12M compliant system, is used to manage the TDP CDRL creation, scheduling, 'drop box' submittals, reviews, dispositions and CDRL monitoring functions in a program office. CMvue is a MIL-HDBK-61 compliant system, which manages the contractor and Government configuration management (CM) process, and stores TDP data until the process dictates the passing of data to downstream PLM systems.

The goal of TopVue products for managing TDPs is cost avoidance. With TopVue Government programs will have reduced data entry and ‘data touches’, faster TDP data retrievals following a CM data structure, faster TDP review processes, better accountability on data quality reviews, and seamless downstream data 'hand offs' to/from PLM systems.
